PICTURE, PERFECT APPLIQUE
Photorealism is a genre of art that encompasses painting, drawing and other graphic media, in which an artist studies a photograph and then attempts to reproduce the image as realistically as possible in another medium. In this workshop, Melissa will share with you her award winning techniques for transforming a photograph into a masterpiece of fiber art. You will learn to see as an artist does, select appropriate fabrics, build a image using a raw edge applique method. Then enhance your work by adding depth, dimension and detail with inks.
Required $30 kit (payable directly to Teacher in class) includes: Image of Frog for pattern, Hand selected fabrics, Use of provide class, inks (payable at time of class)
Supplies to bring: Freezer paper, Pencil, Fusible adhesive, Small iron (clover works well, Ironing mat/pad, Teflon pressing sheet, tweezers, Small Sharp Scissors, Small paint brushes (#2
are good choices), Personal light table (or you may use a window or iPad), 1 Fat Quarter of Background Fabric (light is best)
