HI YA’LL, KATHY HERE! I’m SO EXCITED to be sharing a moment or two to catch up. How has your Summertime been (or Wintertime for our Aussie friends) in your part of the world? I’m always hoping to get some fun stitching done in between celebrating with vacationing family and friends and I hope that you are enjoying some quilting, as well. I am really LOVING the “makeover” of the original quilt using my “Broderie Perse-lique” technique. I am “throwing everything” at the patterns each month to see what catches my eye. It’s been fun using some yummy and bright motifs! Share with your friends and they can join in anytime. This would make a great group project to get together with quilt friends! (did I mention it is completely FREE?)

I’m so excited to be an AFFILIATE for CUTTERPILLAR!!! I am beyond thrilled with their light boxes and other products and have used them for a long time. You know that I don’t trace patterns onto my background; I just trace all the templates from the pattern and when they are made, I use my oversized Cutterpillar Glow Ultra to lay pieces right onto the background, marking only for stem placement and embroidery, if needed. Really saves time! And the upgraded lighting is actually letting me see right through my black background that I am making the Block of the Month with! This is a “special” block called “Floral Abundance - Williamsburg” or as I like to call it, “Flowers for Elly” (second photo here) that I designed especially for Academy of Applique. This retreat project delves deep with 3 full days and you are going to LOVE Elly Sienkiewicz’s oil pastel technique!
