Linda Neal is a retired neo-natal nurse. She started quilting in 2004, after attending the Dallas Quilt Show and thinking "I could do that!" She started taking classes locally, then nationally, and finally, quilting cruises and international classes. In 2008, she entered her first quilt show, the Dallas Quilt Show, and received an Honorable Mention. She was hooked! Since then, she has been entering quilt competitions and has won numerous quilting awards: 1st place AQS - Paducah, Best of Show NQA, Pacific International Quilt Festival, Road to California, Georgia Quilt Show, and many local shows.
Linda loves applique, but also enjoys English paper piecing, traditional paper piecing, and miniature quilts. Her motto, " I can't do easy!" She loves taking simple quilt patterns and making them more intricate. She adds lots of detail to each block, so that every block is a little masterpiece and gives the viewer something to enjoy. She will be sharing her vast knowledge applique and what judges look for in appliqued quilts.
Linda lives in McKinney, TX with her husband Robert, a pediatrician. She has 1 daughter and 2 grandchildren, who live nearby. She is currently living with 5 dogs- 3 rescues ( 2 maltese and a Great Pyrenees) 1 Lhasa Apso with an attitude, and her daughter's dog (on loan). She quilts everyday and attends retreats often. She has had many requests to teach, but her time has been spent working on competition quilts. She is excited to be teaching for the second time at the TKDAA™.
"Linda is still so very new on the quilt scene but her quilts are making a big splash every where she goes. We are so thrilled to have her back to lead classes for us, once again and we know that your classes with her will be very informative and fun!" - Kathy Dunigan
